Importing Map Files: Requirements

Modified on Wed, Apr 2 at 4:38 PM

More information can be found in the article on Map Definitions: Understanding Facility Locations & Responsibility Areas.

Basic info:

  • Must be in NAD83 coordinate system with Lat-Lon Projections (LAT/LONG projection. You cannot upload individual state plane projections, that's not going to work, it needs to be the whole US)
  • Buffer, not a centerline/polyline/line. Minimum buffer of 10ft but even this is barely visible at the lowest zoom level, you may have to play with these settings if trying to get a"center line" effect. 50 ft is pretty small but somewhat visible.
  • The shape file itself must be under 200MB or the upload will time out.
  • Error messages can be checked under settings -> Communications tab -> alerts
